The Al-Kazar, Fennel Street

An Indian / pakistani cafe by day on the ground floor, disco at night in the basement. I worked there part time for a while with my work mate Tommy in 1962.

As I remember not very successful as a disco. Seemed to attract unwanted characters.

Al-Kazar was at 10 Fennel Street opposite Withy Grove, Manchester 4 and opened on Friday, July 12, 1963 with The Emperors of Rhythm from 7.30pm to 12pm.

Advertised in The Manchester Evening News as Grand Opening On Friday July 12. Eastern In Design Eastern In Promise Dance in the Western manner at the Al-Kazar 10 Fennel Street Manchester. 7 30 till midnight every night. The Emperors of Rhythm.
