ARDRI IRISH CLUB (Chorlton on Medlock)

The Ardri Irish Club was at 85 Coupland Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester 15.

The Ardri Irish Club offered roulette, cabaret and wrestling.

 It had been called The College Cinema which had opened in 1914. It was equipped with a British (BA) Sound System around 1930.

When the cinema closed on Saturday, February 13, 1960 it became The College Theatre Club that opened in February 1960. 

The Ardri Irish Club later became the immensely popular New Ardri Ballroom and moved to Hulme, Manchester 15.

It was brought in 1978 by local businessman, promoter, philanthropist Tommy McKenna (b. Thomas McKenna, 1939 d. Tuesday, July 23, 2019) from Jim Connell (b. James Connell). McKenna came from Crossmaglen Village, County Armagh, Northern Ireland and had emigrated to England in 1954.
