I played at the Hindley Monaco in 1967 with Cleveland Fox (formerly ‘The Fur Trade Co. as we were then known). I had just joined the band and I remember not being up to speed with the set list, got through it alright though. It was great venue (still is actually), good dance floor and great audience, as I remember.
They even had a small dance band who, I think were there to warm up the crowd. Didn’t seem to work, I remember the dance floor being completely empty whilst they were playing, but when the group came on the dance floor just filled up, even before we had started to play anything!
We were with the L.E agency, at the time, who had offices nearby, and I think the agency probably booked all the acts at the Monaco.
