The Paradise Club (Wigan)
The Paradise Club was in Vauxhall Road, Scholes, Wigan, Lancashire.
It had been the old Seddons Stocking Factory and when it first opened as a night club it was called The Green Rooster.
The Paradise Club was open nighty, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., but closed Mondays. It had fully Licensed Bars, a Restaurant, Cabaret Dancing and a Gaming Lounge where you could play Chemin de Fer, Roulette and Black Jack.
Wigan based band The Blue Diamonds played here every weekend for about 18 months.
The Shyms, who were the biggest thing in Rock 'n' Roll in Wigan for three years, 1964 - 1967 turned up to play and had sound-check around 7pm. Somebody from the club said they were too loud and the band walked out! The band never played and they never went back.
