Wigane band The Saxons had a line-up of Johnny Angelo (Reg) on lead vocals, Vic Jolley on lead vocals (b. Victor Jolley), Phil Morris on bass and Dave Downey on drums (b. David Downey).
Phil Morris introduced Fred Morris to the group and he joined when lead vocalist Johnny Angelo (Reg) left.
When the band first got together and for a while after The Saxons would rehearse in Jolley's mother's front room in Victoria Street, Newton, Hyde, Cheshire. They also rehearsed at The Seven Stars Pub, Wigan. 
The group advertised for a rhythm guitarist and Mike Pearce (b. Michael Pearce) applied and got the job.
Also, in the band was Ronnie Hatton (b. Ronald Hatton).
This Saxons had nothing to do with The Saxons from Gloucester, Gloucestershire who worked with Joe Meek.
